First Street Yoga Community News and Blog

the future of first street yoga

Alison and I have decided not to teach this summer.  First Street Yoga (or what was left of it) will be in hibernation. We will miss you all, but we are hopeful that the lack of classes will spur you on to a rich and regular home practice. A blog entry in here somewhere discusses good practice books. Also, check out some DVDs from the library. But don’t stop practicing; doing something is better than nothing.

And beyond summer?

The future at First Street Yoga is uncertain. Critter Cabana will be moving into our old space. This makes sense for their business and the building, and honestly, our space there was always a little low-ceilinged and stuffy. So right now we are homeless. I will take time this summer to look for another practice space (to lease or buy), and we will see how things work out. If you have any ideas about this, let me know.

I look forward to seeing you in these last few weeks of class. I hope you all have a lovely summer, with lots of time for quiet contemplation. In fall, rejuvenated and inspired by our independent journeys, we can gather again to share the gift of yoga.

    Hi Jane,
You have such a dedicated group of followers. We will miss the summer session. But the break will be an opportunity for renewal, for all of us. And then we can go shopping for a new space.

I will miss you and the classes very much but I’ll also be watching for your new home on the website. Geez what’ll I do? I need to get some props and start being more disciplined about doing yoga at home! Have a couple of wonderful books I got from you quite awhile back.

I would love to know when and where you start your next classes. I’m totally new to yoga but would love to start.

I’m following some good leads for a new home. If we find one, I promise that I will trumpet the news!

If we don’t, I’ll get you all together to sell you the old props.

    Hi Jane,

Just now checked in … glad to see you have found some leads for a good home… perhaps more by now.
I very much miss your classes, but in the meantime, I have been using Jill Ganassi’s CD for my home practice. It is working for now, but would be better as an adjunct to class.

I hope you have having a lovely summer.

    Hi Jane,

I just want to say “Thank You” for supporting our community in good practice of a healthy lifestyle. St. Paul has a thank you card for you, I have been holding on to it since June…so will look forward to join you again in the fall (new place) and give it to you! I miss yoga so much, it helped my muscles, mental state, and just all around flexibility. Again, thank you and the children of St. Paul loved the experience that you gave them..they talked about it until school was over!
